Popular Holiday Destinations in Spain

Spain - HolidaysSpain has long been one of the most popular travel destinations for British holidaymakers for a variety of reasons, not least the cheap flights to Spain on offer from carriers like Monarch and EasyJet. But the fact remains that Spain itself has it all – great cities, great beaches, culture, scenery, nightlife.  Here’s a rundown of the top three city destinations for holidaymakers to visit:

Barcelona
An incredibly popular tourist destination, and for good reason. Whether you’re more into surf, sun and sand, or you’re a culture vulture, Barcelona should be able to accommodate your needs. There’s Las Ramblas, a bustling thoroughfare through the centre where market stalls, cafes and street theatre converge to form Barcelona’s main drag. Or there’s Park Guell, the famous park designed by Gaudi, for any culture buffs who want to soak up his modernist style. In terms of the nightlife various ‘quarters’ attract different types of clientele – tourists tend to visit the Barri Gotic (Gothic Quarter) which has a great mix of clubs, bars and pubs.

Madrid
The capital of Spain, and located in the centre of the country, Madrid may not have the beaches but it makes up for it in terms of culture. Madrid boasts a host of theatres, museums and activities that visitors and residents alike enjoy. Check out the Royal Palace, a 17th century monument that combines Baroque and Classical style or the Prado Museum, one of the country’s most important art galleries. Being the capital, the city’s also well known for its lively music and theatre scenes. Go explore!

Seville
Seville is the major city of Southern Spain, and one of the warmest cities in Europe. However more than these, it’s a premier destination for holidaymakers who come for its outstanding architecture (check out the city cathedral – one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world) and gastronomic delights. Seafood and olive oil from neighbouring provinces are known to be particularly good.

So when considering where next to go on your holidays consider these great destinations!
